When the civil war started, Mr. King was a loyal southerner and a friend to Robert E. Lee. During the war he ran cotton across his ranch and from there to Mexican ports, because of the blockade of Brownsville Texas by union ships. He moved the cotton bales across the ranch in wagons and then to the Mexican ports and waiting British ships. He also rounded up cattle for shipment to England. When Mr. King first organized the ranch, he went to Mexico and boughta large number of cattle. He purchased so many cattle and horses from this one village, that it left the village without enough animals to make any kind of living. Because of this he moved the whole village back to the ranch and employed them as workers. At that time a Mexican longhorn cow sold for six dollars. Now this is where the Farrier industry is still behind the learning curve. What’s not being taught in the schools is the correct way to address pigeon toed horses. What is being taught in the schools will actually ruin a horse. Textbook information requires the Farrier to lower one side of the foot over the other to force the foot into a more conformational correct position. Problem with this is it forces twist and bind into the horses joint at the coffin bone and both pastern bones fostering a tremendous risk of lameness.

The citizens of Paris were amazed at the almost limitless quantities of machinery the American army possessed as it marched through their city to help them celebrate its liberation August 5, 1944. Along with the masses of soldiers who marched twenty-four abreast they were shocked to see so many vehicles. The German army appeared bizarrely old-fashioned with their horse-drawn transport whose dung littered the streets during their celebration of its June 1940 occupation. By the end of the Second World War American factories would produce over 50,000 Sherman tanks outpacing even the Soviet monolith. In comparison to German factories who could only produce less than 500 King Tiger tanks before its defeat. The American military would win the war on pure brute force with its vast production capabilities. The US has a yearly growth rate of 3.1% (for 2019-20 time period). You know what creates a massive supply in the market that exceeds demand? Breeding 100 horses a year to get 10 good ones, then dumping the rest. These horses did not materialize out of thin air, they were bred and created by someone. Maybe by someone who thought their horse was so pretty, or their kids needed to witness the miracle of birth, or someone had inadequate fencing, or someone doesn’t “believe” in gelding their horses because that would be “against nature”.

A horse’s head shape varies widely based on breed. Arabians usually tend to be dish-faced with a concave profile; draft horses have Roman noses and a convex profile. In the United States each year an estimated 30 million people ride horses, resulting in 50,000 emergency department visits (1 visit per 600 riders per year). 16 A survey of 679 equestrians in Oregon, Washington and Idaho estimated that at some time in their equestrian career one in five will be seriously injured, resulting in hospitalization, surgery or long-term disability. 17 Among survey respondents, novice equestrians had an incidence of any injury that was threefold over intermediates, fivefold over advanced equestrians, and nearly eightfold over professionals. Approximately 100 hours of experience are required to achieve a substantial decline in the risk of injury. The survey authors conclude that efforts to prevent equestrian injury should focus on novice equestrians.

A rare breed, hailing from the Marwar region of India, these horses are most well known for their inward-turning ear tips. The Marwari comes in all equine colors, and are primarily used for show, horse safaris, ceremonial and religious purposes, and dressage. They are often crossed with the Thoroughbred to produce a larger horse with more versatility. The exportation of the breed was banned for decades, until 2000 to 2006, when a small number of exports was allowed. Since 2008, temporary visas that allowed the Marwari to travel outside of India have been available in small numbers. Thanks, I was not implying the younger horse was less impressive and the parrot mouth thing appears to be a breed feature in some and makes them look more quizzical, or “cute”. The Iraqis also captured two U.S. army soldiers. JSTARS were also able to backtrack the paths of Iraqi vehicles. If these paths led to a supply dump or other targets then coalition aircraft would be sortied against these places.
